Athearn (China) 53' GSC TOFC Flat Car


As pictured above, these cars are available with or without loads. They're also available with bulkheads.

53'6" was the "standard" length for flat cars in the transition era. Since so many loads were actually 50' long, the extra 3'6" allowed the load to be blocked and tied down. Cars like these were first built starting in 1944 and are still in use today.
